The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announced this week that Om Khurjekar has been elected to its 2026 Council of Fellows. Om’s nearly three decades of dedicated leadership and service to landscape architecture demonstrate outstanding contributions to the profession. Om is a trusted leader, both at HCM and ASLA, whose enthusiasm, kindness, and commitment to design bring out the best in everyone around him.
ASLA Fellows are recognized for their exceptional contributions to the landscape architecture profession and society at large. Election to the ASLA Council of Fellows is among the highest honors ASLA bestows on members and is based on work, leadership, knowledge, and service.
In his roles at HCM, he has and continues to passionately advocate for the discipline within the multidisciplinary firm. His work reflects a clear understanding of landscape architecture as a powerful tool for building healthier, more inclusive environments. Om’s enduring ASLA leadership, both locally and nationally, exemplifies his steadfast stewardship for the environment, the profession, and the next generation of landscape architects.
As ASLA’s Vice President of Government Affairs, he advances national policy, licensure protection, and advocacy efforts, including leadership on emerging issues such as artificial intelligence and infrastructure policy. Through mentorship, teaching, and professional outreach in the United States and abroad, Om has broadened awareness of landscape architecture and inspired the next generation, leaving a lasting impact on both the profession and the communities it serves.
“The 2026 Class of ASLA Fellows represents the very best of our profession—leaders whose work strengthens communities, advances environmental stewardship, and expands what landscape architecture can do for people and places,” said ASLA President Brad McCauley, FASLA, PLA. “Their careers reflect a deep commitment to design excellence, service, innovation, and the power of our profession to create healthier, more equitable, and more resilient communities. I am proud to celebrate these Fellows, their leadership, and the lasting impact they continue to make.”
“The announcement of each new class of ASLA Fellows is a moment to recognize the profound influence landscape architects have on our world,” added ASLA CEO Torey Carter-Conneen, Hon. ASLA. “The 2026 Class of Fellows has demonstrated exceptional leadership and creativity—shaping communities, informing policy, and inspiring the next generation of practitioners. Their achievements highlight the essential role of landscape architecture in addressing today’s most pressing challenges while creating enduring value for society.”
ASLA Fellows will be elevated during a special investiture ceremony at the 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture, which will be held in Los Angeles, Calif., Sept. 16-18, 2026.
